I got my first NatureBox last week. I was super excited about this box because I have a bad, bad habit of snacking on not-so-good-for you snacks before bed. Before kids, I never snacked after dinner, but I think multiple pregnancies have formed a late night snacking habit that I can't kick. Here is my NatureBox review.
The Box
NatureBox sends you 5 full-sized, guilt-free nutritionist approved snacks for only $19.95 per month. Given that the 25% of the average American’s diet is snacks, you should want to eat healthy snacks! The box is pretty substantial and has earthy green printing on it.
A Peek Into the Box
When I opened this box, I was pleasantly surprised to see it chocked full to the top. It included a thank you card (always a nice touch!), and some more details on Naturebox that I wasn't aware of. All of the snacks are nutrionist-approved, and DO NOT include high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors. There are also zero grams of trans fats!
I think this box is going to make a great gift for my husband who refuses to eat any carbs, and for my organic, earthy sister who only shops at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's!
You get 5 full-size snacks with Naturebox! I did select 4 of my own snacks when I ordered this box, and left 1 snack for NatureBox to choose for me. In this box, I got:
- Granny Smith Apples (my pick)
- Cinnamon Spiced Almonds (my pick)
- Honey Nut Medley (their pick)
- Cherry Berry Granola (my pick)
- Nature's Bounty (my pick)
The Snacks
Granny Smith Apples – Okay, I admit that the healthiest snacks are fresh fruit and nuts. However, I am pretty lazy at night after a long day (esp. with multiple kids!), and don't want to wash and cut fresh fruit. So the Granny Smith Apples were a good choice for me. These apples seemed a bit chewier than the dried apples I'm using to eating in my Panera Fuji Apple Chicken Salad, but they were really good. I ate half the bag in one sitting (which is only 1 serving)! 26 g of carbs for 10 rings – not bad!
Cinnamon Spiced Almonds – These were really good! Fresh tasting with the perfect amount of sweetener (pure sugar) and they only have 8g of carbs for 1/4 cup. You get 4 servings in this bag.
Cherry Berry Granola – This granola was really amazing! I put some almond milk in it and let it soak a little while while I was getting breakfast ready for the kids, and it was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, this package only had 2 servings (for me anyway), and I immediately wanted more! The granola is already gone – I may have to add this to my next box again!
Nature's Bounty – This is a fruit and nut trail mix that has sunflower seeds, cranberries, apricots, raisins, soynuts, almonds, apples, and walnuts. All of the ingredients in this trail mix are organic! This is the perfect snack for anyone who wants to eat more nuts. I liked all of it, except the soynuts. For now, I'll eat around them. 🙂 There are 3.5 servings in this bag, with 15g of carbs per 1/4 cup.
Honey Nut Medley – I have both a sweet tooth and salty tooth (if that even exists?), and this nut mix definitely appealed to my sweet tooth. You get peanuts, almonds, cashews, and pecans covered in evaporated cane juice and honey. At 10g of carbs per 1/4 cup (you get 3 servings), this is the best low carb option in this NatureBox!
For $20/month including shipping, this was a really great deal. I got ~14 servings, so that will cover half of the month of my bedtime snack, and it's all good for you! You can get your own NatureBox for only $9.98 using coupon code SNACKHEALTHY. I'm so excited to start my NEW habit of healthy snacking!
