The Dinner Daily Review

dinner daily review

Today, we are reviewing The Dinner Daily meal planning service. I am super excited about this because I normally spend an hour planning dinner meals for my family every week. This means I spend a lot of time looking through cookbooks and internet recipes. The Dinner Daily cuts this time down significantly by picking the recipes for you (you can also pick new ones if you don't like what is suggested.

The Dinner Daily provides you with customized weekly meal plans based on the foods you like and the grocery store you typically shop at. Meal plans can also be customized on your diet (gluten free, reduced carb, etc.) and what's on sale at your grocery store.

What you'll get: weekly meal plans, recipes, and shopping list.

Price per month: $6

We received this meal planning service for review purposes.

The Dinner Daily Preferences

Once you sign up for the Dinner Daily, you'll get to choose the following:

1. Family Size

You can either choose a Family Plan that serves 4-6 people or Meals for 2 that serves 2-3 people. We chose the Family Plan for my family of 5.

2. Food Preferences

You can choose how many times you would like to see meat or vegetarian options in your weekly menu. You can also choose whether you require a heart healthy diet. You can also say whether you have dietary needs including reduced carb, dairy free, nut free, soy free, gluten free, egg free, or peanut free. I love that this service caters to many of the big allergens! For my family, we don't eat a lot of chicken (due to an allergy) and my kids normally don't like to eat fish. We also have a peanut allergy in our house.

3. Grocery Store

Based on your state, you will also be able to pick from a list of local grocery stores. The Dinner Daily will try to choose recipes based on items that are on sale in your local grocery store of choice.

What You'll Get

Once you're in your Dinner Daily Dashboard, you'll get a Menu and Shopping List. As I said earlier, if you don't like any of the recipes that are presented to you, you can choose another one of their huge library of recipes.

Once done, you'll get your weekly menu along with the recipes themselves.

Here's a view of a couple of the recipes.

You also get a weekly shopping list, which is pre-organized into sections including Produce, Meat/Poultry, Grocery, and Dairy. I love this shopping list because it makes my online shopping easier! For online shopping, I use Kroger Grocery Pickup or Shipt who delivers to my door.

Here's a closer look at the shopping list.

Since I made recipes from an earlier menu, I'll show you two photos of the recipes that I made.

Taco Torte with Fresh Sugar Snap Peas

This torte is made by cooking a mixture of onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, pinto beans, and frozen corn. 5 tortillas were used to stack this mixture in a cake pan along with shredded cheddar cheese and spinach. This is what it looked like coming out of the onion.

Paired with salsa and sour cream, this Taco Torte had an amazing array of flavors and was really easy to make! I did forgot to put the sugar snap peas in this shot.

Simple Steak Supper with Garlic Broccoli and Creamy Polenta

This meal was really delish and was super easy! We marinated and broiled our steak, steam sauteed the garlic broccoli, and heated the polenta. We haven't had polenta before and my kids really liked it!

In Summary

The Dinner Daily cut my weekly dinner menu planning from 1 hour to just minutes! Instead of having to thumb through recipes myself, the weekly menu was pretty much done for me. I just had to make a few tweaks. I was really impressed with the variety of recipes and ability to customize them to based on my family's dietary needs and protein preferences. As an added bonus, I saved some money with recipes that used ingredients that were on sale for the week at my local Kroger. At only $6 per month, I think this meal planning service pays for itself!
