Annie’s Card Maker Kit of the Month September 2019 Review
The theme of the September CardMaker Kit is “Quilted in Friendship”. This kit shows you how to use quilting and layering techniques using paper.
If you like quilted patterns, then you will adore this kit!
Here are our first looks at this month's kit.
The instruction booklet has detailed instructions on how to create each card. This month, we got instructions to make 5 different cards.
For this card making kit, we needed to provide the following items:
1. Cardmaker tool kit (this has a bone folder, etc., that you get with your very first kit)
2. Black stamp pad
3. Scissors or paper cutter
5. Adhesive (we like Tombow adhesive)
Now, let's get on to the beautiful cards that we made!
You're Sew Sweet Card
This card uses the quilting technique. How cute are these colors!
We pre-cut all of the paper needed for 2 cards. I like how the instructions give you the exact dimensions needed for every single cut!
We used the bone folder to create a nice, flat crease in the card.
The first step included aligning 2 triangles towards the bottom of the card.
Then, we added the remaining triangles, leaving some whitespace between each triangle. All of these triangles were added with our Tombow adhesive, of course!
Once all of the triangles were adhered, we used our scissors to cut off the excess.
Then, we used the included “You're Sew Sweet” stamp to add the message.
After adding the stamp, we added mint green buttons (also included) with some foam dots. How cute are these cards?!?
Just Because Cards
The next card used the following paper and embellishments. We cut the little squares in advance.
Here's what the finished cards looked like. These cards took a little extra time only because the measurements in the instructions were slightly off, but they turned out out adorable!
Thinking of You Cards
The next cards used another quilting effect. Here you can see how I applied adhesive to the card stock and layered on the paper squares.
These were the finished cards. I really liked the look of these cards!
To Say Thanks Cards
These were the materials I used to make the next set of cards.
This card was pretty easy to make, because it required far fewer cuts than the previous cards.
This was the card half-way through the process.
And the finished product!
Hello Friend Cards
For the last cards, we had to improvise a bit because we cut some paper from a previous card and didn't have enough paper to make these cards according to the instructions. So, instead of red cardstock, we used the yellow polka dot paper and navy floral pattern paper.
This card also used the quilting and layering technique.
And these were the finished cards!
In Summary
This Quilted in Friendship card making kit from Annie's was a lot of fun! I really liked that I could use these techniques using any decorative paper and I definitely will! I think my friends and family will love getting these handmade cards that look like they were handmade by a pro! 🙂
