Degusta Box February 2019 Review

Here's our first look at what was inside of the box!

The February Degusta Box Theme has a Super Bowl theme. As you can see from the info card, there are plenty of snacks that would be perfect for tonight's big game between the Rams and the Patriots.

Let's get on to the products in the box!

PopCorners Spicy Queso Popped Corn Snacks (est. $2)

We have purchased the PopCorners variety packs at Costco, which have the regular sea salt, white cheddar, and kettle corn flavors. When I tried this spicy queso flavor, I was over the moon! They weren't too spicy and had the perfect amount of kick to them. My kids recently have started eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and I think this is a much healthier alternative. These chips are non-GMO, gluten-free, and aren't fried. One of these bags is 18 g of carbs, so they would make a nice, tasty low-carb snack.

BeanSmash! Cheesy Pinto Bean and Chipotle Black Bean Dips ($1.49 each)

These BeanSmash! Dips can be warmed in the microwave and are a convenient way to get a flavorful protein packed snack. Each cup has 12 g of protein and the ingredients are non-GMO, gluten-free, and vegetarian. All you have to do with is add water and microwave the cup for 75 seconds. You can eat it after 5 minutes. We tried the Chipotle Black Bean dip with some tortilla chips and it was quite good!

Raindrops Candy Taco ($4.99)

My kids were over the moon when they saw this Candy Taco. This is the kind of candy that they see YouTubers try and they really loved it. This taco is filled with gummy candy that look like what would normally be in a taco (e.g., candy tomatoes, candy avocados, candy shredded cheese) and other gummy candy. This candy doesn't taste like taco ingredients, but is a novel candy that would satisfy any sweet tooth!

Just Add Classic Guacamole Quick Mix ($1.19 each)

If you have ever tried to make homemade guac, you'll know it's not the easiest task! You have to prep fresh lime juice, tomatoes, spices, etc. This Just Add Classic Guacamole Quick Mix makes it easy to make guacamole in minutes – all you need to do is add this mix to 2 mashed avocados and you're good to go!

Manitou Trading Company Truffle, Parmesan & Black Garlic Seasoning ($4.49)

This Truffle, Parmesan & Black Garlic Seasoning combines rich flavors of truffles, black garlic and Parmesan cheese in a convenient, easy-to-use powder. You can sprinkle it over popcorn or toss with freshly fried or roasted potatoes. You can also use it to crust meats or seafood before grilling. It can also be used to add richness to risotto or pasta dishes.

Manitou Trading Company Piri Piri Sauce Starter ($2.99)

This Piri Piri Sauce Starter makes a zesty marinade for meat, or as a starter for sauces, dips, stews, and dresssings. It helps you get restaurant quality taste in minutes. All you need to do is add ½ cup of warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes. You can also add a ½ cup of olive oil and blend it until smoother. This sauce can be served immediately or kept in the refrigerator for 48 hours.

Sourdough Craft Beer Pretzel Rings ($3.29)

These craft pretzel rings are made with real malted barley and a dash of hops and are perfect for tonight's big game! What I really love about these pretzels is they are non-GMO, kosher, and free from artificial colors/flavors, preservatives, and trans fats. The taste of these pretzels had just the right amount of salt and the slight bitterness you would expect from a beer pretzel.

Emmy's Organics Coconut Cookies – Vanilla Bean ($2.49)

These organic coconut cookies were so coconutty and make the perfect sweet treat. They are USDA organic, certified gluten-free, and certified vegan. The ingredient list is made up of organic coconut, agave syrup, almond flour, coconut oil, vanilla bean, and Himalayan salt. I will definitely be buying more of these, and I just found out there are out there are other flavors to try out on Amazonv: dark cacao, peanut butter, lemon ginger, and chocolate chip!

PBfit Peanut Butter Powder Sachets (est. $3)

I have seen PBfit in the store before, but haven't tried it yet. This powder contains 90% less fat than traditional peanut butter, and about 1/3 the calories. The ingredient list includes peanut flour (from roasted pressed peanuts), coconut palm sugar, sugar and salt. This means you can have guilt free PBJ sandwiches, smoothies, and dips. This powder is vegan, gluten free, and has 12 g of protein per sachet.

In Summary

We really liked all of the products in the February 2019 Degusta Box. I love the assortment of foods and snacks that you get – and many of them are healthier than what you would find in the typical grocery store aisle.

Our favorites from this month were the PopCorners Spicy Queso Snacks, the Just Add Guacamole Quick Mix, the Emmy's Organic Coconut Cookies, and the PBfit powder. Oh, and I can't forget the Candy Taco that my kids just adored!

For $19.99, February Degusta Box subscribers got an estimated retail value of $29.82 and new products you may have not otherwise found. We love discovering new foods with food subscription boxes.
